They use various methods like observing behavior patterns, brain activity monitoring using electrodes, and even genetic studies to understand fish sleep. It’s a pretty complex.

You're right! Some species like certain sharks need to keep moving to ensure water flows over their gills for oxygen. They enter a restful state but keep swimming in a sort of autopilot mode.

  3. Asked: June 10, 2024In: Aquarium Setup & Maintenance

Would it be okay to put a 12 gallon fish tank on a dresser that already has a 5 gallon (already set up) on the other end.

I learned the hard way with a 10-gallon tank on a flimsy bookshelf. Long story short: water everywhere. Listen to everyone here and make sure your dresser can handle the weight before committing.

How to prepare saltwater for an aquarium?

I've found that mixing the salt in smaller amounts works best. Like, if you have a 5-gallon bucket, add a bit of salt, stir, and then add more. This prevents clumping and ensures an even mix. Don't dump all the salt at once!
