Most rasboras are mid-level dwellers. They primarily swim in the middle area of the aquarium, neither sticking to the surface nor hovering above the substrate.
However, when feeding, rasboras will explore all water layers, looking for food up top and below.
Rasboras are opportunistic feeders, taking flakes/pellets from the surface and live or frozen treats that sink to the bottom.
Their eager appetite drives them to pop up top when they see food and dive down below if morsels drop.
You can use this knowledge to strategically feed their rasboras in different areas, allowing them to exhibit more of their natural behaviors.
Floating plants work well, as they cover the rasboras to duck under when exploring the top region.
